I recently read a study that stated roughly 90% of sports editors are white?! That’s alarming, especially considering that in two of the major sports leagues, (NBA and NFL) rosters are predominantly filled with black athletes. Why is it that the majority of the athletes are black, but the media representation that covers them, speaks to them, writes stories about them, speaks for them and criticizes them tend to rarely if ever look like them? In honor of Juneteenth, I’ve decided to amplify the voices of black sports media and other professionals who work in the industry.
